Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in power within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to begin their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.

This warrior group includes Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem unsuited, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.

The traitor then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each character has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires retribution.
  • The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty place.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their status as key figures in the influential clan could assist the team reach places they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.

This means them no alternative but to head to Timmony in quest for Casimir.

Future Episodes

Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Seekers and Planners groups.

Fans can look forward to learning which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
